The TAC Extension Cord seeks to reduce the user's energy consumption by introducing a physical indication of usage over time in the form of a colored dial. As the user consumes more power with their products plugged into the extension cord, the wheel spins from green to yellow and stops at red. When the dial reaches red, the user's power is cut off and they must reset the TAC Extension Cord by manually turning the dial back to green.
When the dial reaches red, the cord must be reset to continue using power.
Early versions of the TAC Extension Cord were much larger to accommodate the cord storage.
